Case History:

Chronic 3 year old scalp wound previously seborrheic keratosis.

Date:

July 24 1996

Patient:

80 year old Caucasian male.

Diagnosis:

Pre-cancerous seborrheic keratosis

Medical History:

Condition diagnosed: No other significant medical diagnosis. Three years prior surgical removal of lesion resulted in non-healing wound. In October 1995 many wound cleansing products and treatments were tried. like vinegar water washes and saline wet-to-dry dressing applications. No healing occurred.

Treatment:

Twice daily application of Amerigel to open wound with 4x4 gauze dressing changes.

Number of days to current healing:


55 days. (See photos)

7/24/96-TREATMENT DAY 1 Red, thick, sero-sanguinous eschar encompassing wound.

8/7/96-TREATMENT DAY Note reduction eschar debrided in 7 days, and significant epithelialization is noted to lower quadrant.

8/28/96-TREATMENT DAY Note further reduction in open wound 91% closure.

Figure 3: This graph shows a biphasic healing cycle reflecting the percentge reduction of wound size in relation to the number of treatment days. The wound is reducing in size by 31.5% per week.
