A Message From Dr. Fishman
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the 3rd edition of our newsletter. The Wound Care Institute,
Inc., with all it's volunteers, continues to make great strides in re-shaping the delivery
of wound care and diabetic foot care education. So many of you have thanked us for 'saving
our trees' by placing our newsletter on disk and on the internet. We've also received a
lot of positive feedback on the interactive nature of the program and the fact that we can
put so much information and color photographs on one disk.
As each day passes, we can't help but realize that our world is becoming more
technologically advanced. WCI embraces these advancements and strives to utilize them to
our maximum benefit. I truly believe that this point is what distinguishes WCI from any
other organization in our industry. Some of you are viewing this page over the internet,
some of you are viewing it from a floppy disk, and many of you are connected to us through
email - a direct conduit from us to you - and vice versa. Take some time out of your busy
schedule to upgrade your computer skills. Consider asking the nearest 12 year old for some
guidance. :) [that is a sideways smiley face]
I am also proud to announce that WCI's First Annual Wound Care Educational Symposium
will be held in October, 1997 in New Orleans, LA in conjunction with Medtrade and Semco
Productions. Medtrade, is the largest medical trade show and conference in America. Over
50,000 people in the medical industry attended last year's convention - with over $600
million dollars worth of purchasing occurring. The goal of our program will be to provide
every attendee with TAKE HOME information that you can put to immediate use. Forget
those old, boring speeches that you've heard time and time again. We've already
secured some of the most exciting, cutting edge speakers to present information on various
relevant topics. If you would be interested in speaking, please get in touch with us at
the institute (305) 919-9192. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a chance to be
heard, so don't be shy, call me today! Keep your eyes open for more announcements on this
fabulous event.
As with any non-profit organization, fund raising is an important aspect of our
operation. Remember, there is no cost to join WCI. There is no cost to receive our
mailings, faxes, emails, internet updates, or other materials.. Our dynamic Board of
Directors are all volunteers - giving of their time and energy to try to better our
industry. We are in the process of applying for federal and institutional grants to
continue with the various objectives in our mission statement. Our Wound Care on a Disk
program is our first official fund raiser. Get this educational program (combined with a
comprehensive product and manufacturers' index) for a small, tax deductible donation of $
35.00 or greater.
Enjoy this newsletter, feel free to call anytime and stay tuned for further
announcements.
Also, for those of you who need more information on how to write The Perfect Grant and
obtain more money for your organization, check out www.kentech.com/Lobbya. It's
GREAT!!!!
