Braun Wound Care introduces new circular hydrogel dressings - ideal for multiple wound care applications. Milwaukee, WI … Wound Care Division of B. Braun Medical Inc. has added 2 new one and a half inch circular hydrogel dressing to its line of advanced wound care products.

The new sterile, semi-occlusive TRANSORBENT and THINSite circular hydrogel dressings are designed to perform 3 functions: 1) to promote moist wound healing, 2) manage and control wound exudate and 3) prevent microbial contamination. Such benefits are derived from the dressings' patented multi-layered designs.

First, a balanced adhesive formula adheres the dressing to intact skin around the wound, effectively keeping it in position with no need for extra taping. Upon removal, the adhesive will not disturb healing tissues or leave behind sticky residue.

Second, a middle layer, consisting of a hydrogel - impregnated fabric, transfers excess exudate away from the wound. The patented BioFilm Hydrogel also helps maintain a moist environment that is physiologically conducive to wound healing.

Finally, a polyurethane film serves as the outermost layer. It allows transmission of moisture vapor, provides a physical barrier to microbial contamination, reduces friction, and presents a smooth, easy - to - clean surface.

The TRANSORBENT dressing also features an extra soft foam layer to protect and cushion the wound, while the THINSite design features an extremely low profile that conforms to virtually any body contour. Healthcare professionals and patients alike will find the dressings highly versatile and easy to apply and remove.

The dressings are ideal for use on post-surgical wounds, laparoscopic and biopsy sites, suture and drainage tube sites, as well as on minor abrasions, lacerations, and partial and full thickness dermatological sites. They are also indicated for the management of partial and full thickness wounds, stage 1 - 4 pressure ulcers, arterial and venous stasis leg ulcers, and to aid in the prevention of skin breakdown.

The new circular designs are an extension of Braun Wound Care's TRANSORBENT and THINSite topical wound dressing line. Both brands are available in 4 in. x 4 in. (10.16 cm), 6 in. x 6 in. (15.24 cm) and 8 in. x 8 in. (20.32 cm) designs. THINSite also comes in a 2 in. x 8 in. (5.08 cm x 20.32 cm) size.
