According to Richard Meer, "Physical Therapists must become both more knowledgeable and more vocal in addressing pressure sore treatment issues if patients are to benefit from better care. Some P.T.'s lost interest in the subject when they were not included in the decision making process, so many now have knowledge gaps to fill before they can act as advisors on pressure sore treatment and prevention to medical and nursing personnel. That advisory capacity is the therapists' most important role."

Mr. Meer's work has been regularly featured in major journals and publication serving the healthcare community. It was Mr. Meer who designed the curriculum and the examination for the course of study through which Tissue Therapist Certification may be earned. He is the author of "Straight Talk About Decubitus Ulcers", "The Tissue Therapists Guide to Understanding Tissue Trauma & Therapy", "The Language of Tissue Trauma", & "The Glossary to Tissue Trauma Therapy Terminology".

A Who's Who in health care, Richard M. Meer, serves as and advisor / consultant to numerous medical cost containment committees, task forces, alliances and study groups. We are proud to feature him in our newsletter.
